LASER POWERED ROBOTS!?
Saw this in the blogs today:
A company called LaserMotive has won the Beam Power Challenge, tasked with creating a laser-powered robot able to lift a weight on a cable at a speed of greater than two meters per second.
HOLY SHIT. LASER POWERED ROBOTS? I don’t care if it’s doing something as seemingly mundane as demoing space elevators (which…really isn’t that mundane). But it’s a ROBOT. POWERED BY LASERS.
HOLY SHIT.
I don’t care how it works. I just care that it involves robots powered by lasers.
(side note: As I was typing this, I kept typing “robotos” instead of “robots”. The word “robotos” makes me laugh. I was tempted to leave it in the post as such.)
