Ted! Ted! Bring me back some podium girls!

Cervelo has announced its Giro team, and there’s a familiar name:

Carlos Sastre’s Cervélo team for the Giro d’Italia, May 9 to 31, has been narrowed down to twelve riders, with the squad set to make the final selection of its eight support riders in the coming weeks.

The Italian three-week stage race will consist of 20 teams of nine riders each. Thor Hushovd, Iñigo Cuesta, Simon Gerrans, Philip Deignan, Volodimir Gustov, Jeremy Hunt, Daniel Lloyd, Ignas Konovalovas, Edward King, Hayden Roulston and Serge Pauwels are the 11 who will vie for the final eight supporting spots.

Carlos Sastre won the Tour de France last July while riding for Team CSC. He announced in September he left the team to join Cervélo Test Team. He last raced the Giro d’Italia in 2006.

Booyah. Cyclingnews also added:

King, previously of the American Bissell squad, broke his arm in a low-speed crash in February’s Tour of California. He has quickly worked his way back into racing, and has credited his rapid recovery to large quantities of milk, pastries, and Exeter Cycle rides.

Hopefully there will be some good blogging to come of this experience. Behind the scenes photos of Hushoved role-playing as Thor?

In particular, King additionally mentioned his affinity towards Ceres Street Cafe’s chocolate peanut butter brownie. “The fudge like consistency of the brownie, accompanied by the rich, creamy, yet subtly sweet peanut butter topping really makes this brownie shine above the rest.” King was spotted on one of the Exeter Cycles rides fueling up with one of these before turning the screws for ninety minutes of ferocious pace.
