Know what’s gross?
If you guessed frozen beef stew that has been sitting outside of my apartment since the December 11th ice storm, then you guessed right.
So here’s the deal. During the ice storm, when we lost power for a few days, my roommates and I panicked and put our perishables outside in the arctic north of Dover. Everything else came in once power was restored…except for my beef stew. I didn’t bring it in because I didn’t feel like cleaning it that day.
Then it sat outside. For almost a month. Freezing. Thawing. Freezing. Getting rained on. And, somehow, not getting consumed by starving raccoons. I mean, I didn’t think it was that bad. Show me some respect, raccoons.
Anyway, today I decided to bring it in, clean it out, and make some vegetable soup. When I opened it, I was greeted with a frosted pile of beef, leeks, carrots and rice. And because it had been sitting in sub-freezing temperatures for a few days, it was impossible to cut through with a steak knife. I sprayed it with hot water until it was malleable enough to cut into slices.
Then I spent the next 15 minutes slicing pieces of frozen beef stew out of a crockpot and throwing them in a plastic bag.

Are you kiddin’ me?
What are we talkin’ about?
It goes without saying that you placed popsicle sticks in the chunks of frozen beef stew and then stored them in freezer for later. Beef-Stew-Sicles make for a tasty frozen treat on a hot summer’s day!
It doesn’t matter who you play…
