Armstrong to buy ASO?

This story came from K$, my little news Tivo (he finds stories I like and he brings them to me, like a Tivo):

Rumours are circulating that behind Armstrong’s decision, which will allow him to race in next year’s Tour de France, is an audacious plan that will change the face of cycling.

It may not be unveiled next week, but the word is that Armstrong is involved in a possible buyout of Tour organisers Amaury Sport Organisation from its parent company the Amaury Group.

Insane? Possible? At least it’s interesting. I think it’s totally insane, though. But we shall see at noon eastern today, after his press conference in NYC.

(Update: The above is not true, according to the press conference.)

PS – I didn’t see this until today, but according to Velonews:

Rumors have placed Armstrong probable to compete at the Gran Prix of Gloucester in Massachusetts over the October 10-11 weekend, as well as the Boulder Cup in Colorado over the November 1-2 weekend. Both events are part of the new North American Trophy Series.

Gloucester is going to be craaaaazy this year.
