The first weekend in March.

My alarm clock was doing its electric scream at me this morning, as it always does. And my natural response is to just whack the top of it with a limb, giving myself ten more minutes of peace.

But when I finally dragged my lazy ass out of bed, I looked down at my duffel bag on the floor, and realized it was empty.

“Oh shit!” I thought, “I have to pack! I can’t believe I didn’t pack last night…damnit. I still need to print off my license, and get to the dining hall…oh…wait.”

In my morning haze, the hangover from a late night bowl of Cocoa Krispies, my brain had fallen into it’s old seasonal routines.

But for the first time in four years, I will be spending the first weekend in March somewhere other than New Jersey. I will not be spending that Friday crammed into a van, suffering through traffic in Worcester and then Waterbury, wondering if the person driving will eventually kill us all by taking an exit ramp at 50.

My weekend will be substantially quieter and with far less male nudity. Now, some may argue that a quiet weekend is a good thing – but I’d rather have screaming naked guys on top of a 15 passenger van in New Jersey any day of the week.

Good luck, enjoy the weekend and have as much fun as you can. Because soon you will be going to work on Friday instead of having your eardrums blown out by someone screaming “GET IN THE VANS.”
