bike racing. high life. internet.

Sleepy-time internet.

So it’s finally cold. If you haven’t been outside for the last month – which was supposedly NOVEMBER – it has been warm. I guess my standing outside and spraying CFC’s into the atmosphere has been helping, along with burning barrels of gasoline for fun. I mean, not only does it look cool, but it helps accelerate global warming! SCREW YOU EARTH! HAHAHAHAHA!

But yes, New England has finally remembered that it is the bitchingest region in the world, and now it’s cold and nice and late autumn and I love it. One of the the reasons I like cold weather so much – remember, I don’t ski or snowboard – is because I get to wear “thick” things.

Like nice, thick socks that wrap my feet like a down comforter and keep them warm and safe inside my five-year-old hiking boots. I love that. Because even though I may be out walking around campus or whatnot, my feet feel like they are still curled up in bed. Especially when it actually starts snowing, and the wind is blasting my face with snow to the point that I’m afraid my skin might get ripped off, my feet are always nice and warm, totally unaware of the abuse my exposed flesh is going through.

I also get to bust out my dad’s Lands’ End jacket that he bought in 1983 – making it two years older than I am. So I wear a t-shirt, my UNH cycling sweatshirt and that thing, and I look like a homeless man that has stolen a Cannondale cross bike as I’m riding to class. But it doesn’t really matter, as I’m wrapped in thick comfortable clothing.

Clothing which came in very handy today. I went to my 8 a.m. linguistics class, and then my 11 a.m. anthro class. This class is a large lecture, in one of the MUB theaters. So, naturally, it has nice, plush, comfortable movie theater seats. Not good when I’m tired.

So before I knew it, my sweatshirt hood was balled up behind my head in a makeshift pillow, and I slept for an hour of the 90 minute class. When class was over, I had ZERO motivation to ride, so I went back to my apartment and took a four hour nap.

There’s nothing more satisfying than falling asleep in November when it is still light out, and waking up at 4:30 in the dark. The complete waste of an afternoon is liberating and satisfying but not very smart. It’s liberating because I know that I can do so much with my day – ride, do homework, clean – but to just throw that all out the window and sleep is quite great. And it’s satisfying because a four hour nap rules.

You can have your cold. Brr.

I think it’s funny that you want a trombone for nationals…as if you need help making more noise.

Most importantly, I need that playlist from your race. Bad ass, at least whenever I was listening. Who do I talk to?

That would be my roommate, Mr. Drew Szeliga. I think Nate Miller also had a playlist going.

We’ll see if we can get a copy of it somewhere…or at least have it make a reappearance at nationals.
